a Social network

December 5, 2008

I’m thinking about making my own Facebook like website. It won’t be as rich in features at Facebook, so tell me what you think.

Users will be able to:

  • Invite friends
  • Edit their profile
  • Write on a friend’s  wall (need to change the name.. any ideas?)
  • Upload photos

The main focus of this will be the wall.

You can share links, vids, photos, etc using the wall. Let’s zoom in some more, though. Now, amongst all the features of the wall, the main focus will be on keeping other’s as updated as possible about what you’re doing. So not only can you write on your wall from your web browser, but I’ll also make a little download to go alongside my social network. This download will hide beside your computer’s clock as an icon. When you double click the icon, a small window appears in which you type what you’re doing and press enter. You’ve been updated. There will also be a mobile phone app, so you can update from your phone via text messaging.

Tell me what you think. Also tell me what you want Facebook to do yet it doesn’t do (maybe I can implement that).

Everyday ’09

November 28, 2008

Hey guys,

I released ED09 a couple of days ago. It’s turning out really well. I’ve added Merriam-Websters online dictionary to the search box and YouTube search is coming in the next release (1.3).  Also in the next release, SmartStart will have made it’s way into more ED09 programs, possibly Wake, and will be customizable.  Anyways check it out at the project website and tell me what you think.

Yup! I decided to give Everyday ’09 one last thing before it’s launch on Dec. 3, a full pledged full time (had to put that in there:) ) search bar! Although it’s default search engine is Google, you can search using Yahoo!, and Windows Live. You can also search for articles on Wikipedia or something to buy on Amazon. Cool, huh? Also whenever you open the ED09 panel, then search bar is already active, so all you have to do is simply start typing and press the ‘enter’ button on your keyboard to see your results. Here are some screen shots for y’all.

Tell me what you think,

Wake 2 released!

October 16, 2008

Hey guys I have just now released Wake 2. Features like Library are soon to come, along with a complete online tutorial. Anyways in Wake 2 I finally finished the file extensions. This means that you can simply double click any Wake document to open it in Wake, like you would a .DOC file to open it in MS Word. wow that code was so hard to figure out, but in the end it seemed kind of simple and it was like “Duh!!!!!!!!!”.

Excerpts and Edit is implemented in Wake 2, and Library is soon to come.

Incase you don’t know what Wake is, check it out at my website. http://www.CodePackage.com/software/wake.html.

There are also some videos at the ED09 Project site. http://www.CodePackage.com/everyday

Ok ya’ll have a good weekend,

Developing Wake2

October 7, 2008

I’ve spent 4 hours working on the release of Wake2 today after I finished the majority of my school. It looks like it’ll be ready in a few weeks instead of, as I had originally anticipated, in December. I have finished 2 of the 3 main features for Wake2. The first one, Excerpts lets you export a region of text you select as an image, and Edit lets you create and edit (yup-even after you’ve published them!) Wake documents. Now it’s time to tackle the big one – Library. Library is an online database where you can upload and download Wake documents from within Wake (not your web browser).  I’ve never done something this big before, and I’m excited to see how thing roll out. Below are links to 2 vids I took for Excerpts and Edit. Enjoy!

Edit: http://codepackage.com/everyday/edit.html

If you have NO CLUE what Wake is, it’s an app for reading and publishing your stories, work, and any other document you can think of. How it differs from a word processor, like Microsoft Word, is that you can publish your stuff without worrying about other people “pirating” it. It’s explained better at my website and the CNET download.com page.

UPDATE: Wake2 BETA is available for download. http://www.codepackage.com/Wake2Beta.zip
